AGENCY: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of
Transportation (DOT).

SUMMARY: This notice contains a summary of a petition seeking relief
from specified requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations. The
purpose of this notice is to improve the public's awareness of, and
participation in, the FAA's exemption process. Neither publication of
this notice nor the inclusion or omission of information in the summary
is intended to affect the legal status of the petition or its final
disposition.

Petition for Exemption
Docket No.: FAA-2020-0695.
Petitioner: National Air Transportation Association (NATA).
Section(s) of 14 CFR Affected: Sec. 135.340(a)(2).
Description of Relief Sought: Petitioner requests relief, on behalf
of its members authorized to conduct operations under part 135. The
requested relief would extend the deadline for an instructor to undergo
an observation check by an FAA inspector, operator check airman or
aircrew designated examinier from 24 to 36 months, subject to certain
risk mitigations. This petition is directly related to the
circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
